After the complementary breakfast spread lavishly in the hotel restaurant, we started for Genting Highlands at 10 am. It took us an hour to reach Genting Skway (Cable car station) situated at the base of the Genting Highland.
We opted for a taxi but travelling by a bus is a cheaper option. Buses travel to genting Highland daily from various locations in and around Kuala Lumpur (Read: Five Things to do in Kuala Lumpur). The major bus routes begin from KL Sentral and Pudu Sentral. It costs anywhere between MYR 5 to MYR 12 depending on your starting point in K L.
The gondola lift provided a dramatic view of the valley. I was floating on the clouds and surrounded by the green till the eyes could reach. It left me speechless. Not a word was uttered.
Genting Skyway, opened in 1997, is one of the longest and fastest gondola lifts in Southeast Asia. Spanning 3.38km from the base station in Gohtong Jaya town all the way up to the peak.

The moment we reached the peak, still in raptures, we were confronted by another breath taking view. We were above the clouds in the truest of sense.
Situated at the elevation of 5710 ft and tucked away in the Titiwangsa Mountains, Genting Highlands also known as Resorts World Genting Highland is the city of fun high above the clouds.

The place is a riot of activities. A day is not sufficient by any means. There are luxury hotels and casinos for the rich, theme parks, Strawberry and Mushroom farms for all the tourists.
First World Plaza:
First World Plaza is a shopping mall complex at Genting Resort housing the indoor theme park. With bright interiors, statues and neon lights. There are numerous replicas of international landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower and Petronas Twin Towers scattered randomly throughout the mall.
The Theme Park provides lighter versions of its outdoor rides, such as carousels, roller coasters and a slow-moving ferris wheel for families and children. We traveled around the theme park in a mini train. The entire place was glittering with lights and the children were shouting and running around in excitement.

The Outdoor Theme Park:
If you visit the park during a weekend, be prepared to toil away in the long queues. Although, with the pass collected from the entrance, you have an access to the rides any number of times, it can be so crowded that you end up experiencing each ride just once. But all the wait and pain disappears into nothingness once you get onto the rides.
There are over 50 types of adrenaline rushing rides, including roller coasters, ferry wheels, swings, carousels, trains, cars and ships that suddenly falls from the height creating knots in the stomach, barrel down water channels or crawl slowly along a steel track.

It also offers boating, archery and go-karting. Mini concerts and performances by clowns and mascots entertain the crowds on holidays and weekends. It has hosted number of award ceremonies like IIFA awards, ZEE Cine awards and MTV awards.

There are a zillion options for fine dining along with the cafes and bistros. After all the hard work and brouhaha, we sat back and relaxed with a cup of coffee in Starbucks.
You can try your luck in the Casino de Genting, Malaysia's sole gaming venue if you are carrying some disposable amount.
The day was not enough and there was a lot more to explore so I promised to return the next time my fate brings me to Kuala Lumpur.
